Don’t Sabotage Your Potential

Stop sabotaging your potential!  There is so much greatness in you and because God created each of us uniquely, there is something He created for you to do that no one else can do.

When you begin to compare yourself to others and when you don’t believe there is greatness on the inside of you, then you begin to limit your creativity and you open the door for so many distractions that will hold you back from walking in your purpose.

5 things that keep you from your potential

  • Fear

  • Disappointments

  • Negative Thinking

  • Doubt

  • Procrastination

Fear

Fear is very destructive. When you allow fear to take over your mind, you become paralyzed.  You can’t move forward because fear causes you to stop in your tracks.

Fear has the power to hold you back; if you allow it to have power over you.  When you operate in fear, you limit yourself.

2 Timothy 1:7 “God has not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, of love, and of a sound mind.”

So, if God did not give you a spirit of fear, why do you allow fear in? He said in His word that He gave us power.  Power to overcome, power to create, power to persevere, power to change your community, region and nation.

Disappointments

Disappointments lead to distractions and setbacks.  You will always be disappointed when you try to produce something or chase after something that God has not designed or purposed you to have.

When you set our hearts and minds on people or circumstances, you will be disappointed.  You have to remain confident in who you are and where you are going to stay focused on the greater destiny that God has laid out before you.

Position yourself for greatness by operating in humbleness when confronted with disappointments.  Operate in excellence in all you do, knowing that you are doing all things for the glory of God.

Negative Thinking

You are what you think you are.  If you don’t think you are good enough to do whatever it is you desire to do, then you have just limited yourself.  The bible says, “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he”.  Meaning, whatever you think about you, is what you become.

If you have a desire to write a book, but you think it’s too hard for you to do or you think no one is going to want to read your story, then that’s as far as you’re going to get with your book.  You’ve just limited your potential.

If you have a desire to start your own business but you start thinking you are not smart enough to do it, then you will always be working in a job that you do not like and are not passionate about.

Negative thoughts lead you to an unfulfilled destiny.

Doubt

Doubt is like an anchor; it holds us in place so we can’t go anywhere.  It feels safe to stay in this place.  If you want to reach your full potential, if you want to carry out your purpose in life, you can’t stay in that “safe” place.

When you doubt, there is a lack of trust in God who created you for such a purpose and time as this.  Only through faith and belief can you do what seems impossible.  If you don’t think it will happen, it won’t.

You need to keep moving forward with no doubt because everything you need is already in you!

Procrastination

It’s so easy to get distracted in this fast-paced technology world we live in.  But don’t let that be an excuse to not do what you need to do to accomplish your goals.

Maybe it’s not necessarily the distractions that are causing you to procrastinate.  Sometimes just having a glimpse of your future, a glimpse of your purpose can feel so overwhelming that you find yourself at a standstill.

Get to the root of why you are putting something off.  Set goals small and big, start with accomplishing one goal, it will inspire you to complete another and before you know it you are on the path to your destiny.
